Stay up and Sleep well for the Holidays

Lindsay Hunt is a Certified Integrative Health Coach gives us tips on how to keep awake and not be tired and how to get plenty of rest and sleep during these holidays.

To keep awake:

1.  Eat for energy! Food is fuel. Keep these foods in your daily diet to stay energized throughout the day; coconut oil, chia seeds, and green leafy vegetables.

2.  Balance your blood sugar levels through the day. By balancing your meals and snacks with a healthy carb, protein and fat your blood sugar will remain      stable and you will not crash at 3PM.

3.  Exercise and movement is important to refresh and wake yourself up. Get up and stretch or take a walk.

4.  Vitamins and supplements such as B12 (the energy vitamin) and D3 (sunlight) are great energy boosters!

5.  Choose water or tea before caffeine dehydration zaps energy which is why you want to constantly hydrate!

Before you sleep:

1.         A bed time snack 30 min. before bed can help you sleep more soundly.

2.         Read a fun/light book, journal, write out to-do's to distress before sleep

3.         Dim lights 30 min before bed ... keep electronics out of bed

4.         Lavender essential oil and chamomile tea before bed

5.         Natural Cam Magnesium calm Magnesium is a supplement many are deficient in and supports sleep!

Avoid Being Taken For a Ride Valley Mechanics Offer Holiday Car Shopping Tips

If a used car for a family member is on your holiday shopping list, your Neighborhood Auto Repair Professionals (NARPRO) want to make sure you don't get taken for a ride.

Inspect before you buy:

Even a savvy shopper is unable to perform a thorough inspection on his or her own.

A certified mechanic can explain what will be examined and how the inspection is performed.

Ideally, you want to take the car to a shop so it can be put on a lift and inspected for leaks but a mobile inspection (where mechanic comes to the car's location) is always better than no inspection.

-An inspection can take over an hour and cost about $100

-Benefits of a certified mechanic inspection

-Confirms the condition and equipment

-Reveals frame damage and poor bodywork

-Finds codes that reveal engine problems

NARPRO also provides 3 TV viewers with a download checklist to help make your inspection easier: http://narpro.com/checklist/

The Neighborhood Auto Repair Professionals (NARPRO) helps car owners find skilled and honest car repair shops. NARPRO only recommends independent, family-owned, full-service auto repair shops that have passed 26 rigorous tests. Visit www.NARPRO.com to find recommended shops near work or home. NARPRO is the easiest way to find an honest mechanic in the Valley.
