Career Fair to Feature Over 20 Valley Employers

Maricopa Workforce Connections, a division of the Human Services Department of Maricopa County, will hold a career fair on November 10th at its West Valley Career Center located at 1840 N. 95th Avenue, Suite 160 Phoenix, AZ.

The fair will be held from 10:00am-12:00pm and feature over 20 employers including FedEx, Shamrock Foods and Lowe's. Job seekers are encouraged to bring a current resume, dress professionally and be prepared to network with employers.

Maricopa Workforce Connections provides career seekers with no cost resources to assist in obtaining employment or career training. Services include employment workshops, career guidance and connections with employers. Services are offered Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm at both the West Valley Career Center and the East Valley Career Center.

Korean War Veterans Honorees at this year's Phoenix Veterans Day Parade

Glowing with tributes to our nation's true heroes, our Veterans, the Phoenix Veterans Day Parade will once again be presented by Honoring Arizona's Veterans.

This year's parade theme is "No Longer Forgotten:  Honoring our Korean War Veterans."  With more than 100 entries, this year's parade will have a special float with nearly 20 Korean War Veterans riding on it.   The parade will also feature patriotic floats, high school marching bands, JROTC marching units, color guards, Veterans Service Organizations, animals, novelty units and much, much more. 

The Phoenix Veterans Day Parade route runs southbound on Central Avenue starting at Montebello, turns East onto Camelback Road and then South on 7th Street ending at Indian School Road.

The Parade is designed to help commemorate and honor our Veterans and to educate Americans about the service and sacrifices our Veterans have made to protect our freedoms.

The Celebrity Grand Marshal for this year parade will “Big” Pete Pearson. “Big” Pete Pearson is a Blues legend.

CNN Hero of 2015

Valley Resident in CNN Top Ten! Jody Farley-Berens, Valley resident and director of Singleton Moms, has been selected as a finalist to be the CNN Hero of 2015. She will be on the televised award show in December 8th and has the potential to win $100,000 for Singleton Moms.

Singleton Moms is a local organization which Jody started out of her Scottsdale home in 2006 that helps single moms (and now dads!) going through cancer treatment. They have grown so much and are now able to help many families all over the Phoenix area.
