(3 ON YOUR SIDE) -

Brad Young and his family-run real estate company needed 3 On Your Side's help in October.

Young said he ordered customized T-shirts so his employees could wear them on the job. So, he went to a company called Doss Effects Print Shop, ordered more than 50 shirts and paid $598.

However, the T-shirts he got were not what he ordered or what he expected. He said they were the wrong color, had the wrong lettering and the enormous size of the shirts swallowed up his employees.

Young said the print shop refused to give him his money back. 3 On Your Side got involved and wound up getting him $488 back, almost a full refund.

"It's pretty crazy to see the results because I spent months just trying to stay in touch with the guy or figure out what his plan was, and within 24 or 48 hours of when 3 On Your Side got involved, it was resolved," Young said.

Diana Alvarez is another viewer 3 On Your Side helped out. Alvarez was ripped off for a $150 trying to purchase a puppy online, but it was all a scam.
3 On Your Side didn't get her money back because most of these online pet scams originate out of the country. However, we did help get her a little Chihuahua named Cash from an organization called the Arizona Small Dog Rescue.

The organization was kind enough to waive the $280 adoption fee and let Alvarez adopt Cash absolutely free.

"Thank you to everybody, and I'm so excited and I'm so grateful," Alvarez said.

We can't forget about Marcia Corby. Her doctor had to perform an in-office medical procedure, and she was told by her insurance company that it would be covered in full. However, she wound up getting stuck with a $5,180 bill anyway and said she couldn't get anyone to understand that bill was wrong.

3 On Your Side got involved, and after we asked Blue Cross Blue Shield to look into the matter, the insurance company realized they goofed up and erased the $5,180 medical bill. Corby said it only happened after she got 3 On Your Side involved.

"It took forever for me to get anything done. Well, I didn't get anything done, and then 3 On Your Side got involved, and what do you know? Everything's taken care of, so I really appreciate what you have done," Alvarez said.

And finally, 3 On Your Side helped out  Phyllis and Tom Ropacki. When their home air conditioner broke down, they expected their warranty company, Choice Home Warranty, to pay to repair it. However, Choice Home Warranty denied the claim and said it wouldn't cover the repair.

After 3 On Your Side got involved, things took a turn.  The company changed its mind, sent out a technician and installed new parts to get the Ropackis' unit up and running again.

The repair was right around $1,800. It's money the couple didn't have to pay because the warranty company picked up the bill.

"Had it not been for Channel 3 and the news crew and Gary Harper, I know that this never would have been resolved," Phyllis Ropacki said. "My solution was 3 On Your Side."

When you add up all the money we either helped waive or recouped for viewers, it amounted to $8,098, just for the month of October. That brings the total for the year to just over $86,075.

    Consumer trend: The gender gap

The fashion industry purposely has an identity crisis lately with men's inspired clothing for women and women's silhouettes hitting the runways and racks for men. But now clothing lines are going even further by taking gender out of the equation completely. Is this trend simply a fashion fad? Or is it something more? 3 On Your Side's Gary Harper has the lowdown on 'gender neutral' clothing. (Friday, Jan. 27, 2017)
