CHANDLER, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -
Four days after a young girl was sexually assaulted while waiting for a bus near a busy Chandler intersection, Chandler police said they are "working pretty much around the clock" to catch the brazen predator.
“We need to catch this guy," Chandler Police Detective Seth Tyler said. "This individual is extremely dangerous."
It happened about 10 a.m. Thursday morning on Pecos Road, just west of Arizona Avenue.
The young girl was reportedly waiting for a bus when a man approached her on foot, grabbed her, sexually assaulted her and then fled on foot.
"We spent a great deal of time with the victim," Tyler said. "We are 100 percent confident that this indeed occurred and this is indeed the suspect."
With the help of the young victim, Chandler police put together a composite sketch of the suspect, who is described as a light-skinned male between 20 to 30 years old and between 5’6” to 5’10” tall with a thin build, black hair and a goatee.
Last Thursday evening, Chandler officers canvassed the area around Arizona Avenue and Pecos, alerting residents to the danger and looking for leads.
"We are planning another neighborhood canvas later this week in this same general area," Tyler said. "We need the public’s help identifying him so we can bring him to justice."
