Healing Fields

The City of Tempe, along with 250 volunteers will began assembling the “Healing Fields” as way to memorialize those lost on the September 11, 2001.  Tonight, there will be a Candlelight vigil at 7 pm  This  will take place at the Tempe Beach Park.

The American Red Cross will host blood drives at Tempe Beach Park from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 11 - 13. To make an appointment, visit or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). Walk-in donors are welcome.

Lucas Oil Off Road 9/11 Memorial Race

The Lucas Oil Regional Off-Road Series Arizona Presented by ADS Racing Shocks announces Rounds 7 & 8 of the 2015 season on September 11 & 12th. This event will be a 9/11 Memorial Event featuring an awesome venue to honor our Country's finest.

Police Officers, Fire Fighters and Military will be admitted free with a picture ID. Come out an experience Arizona's best trucks, buggies, UTV's, and trophy karts racing on the Lucas Oil Short Course off-road track at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler.


Gates open at 3 p.m., racing starts at 6 p.m. Special event pricing: $11/adults, $9/children (ages 6-12), children 5 and under free. Saturday, September 12th there will be a Fireworks display at the end of the racing activities at approximately 10 p.m.

The Scottsdale Spice Event

The Scottsdale Spice event will heat up downtown Scottsdale tomorrow, Saturday, September 12th at the Venue. There will be 0local restaurants & food purveyors. The Two Brother Tap House Brewery will demonstrate one of their dish at the event, called “Ghostly Goat Poppers.”

Ghostly Goat Poppers

2 c quick cook polenta

4 c chicken stock (water can be used)

1 c Chihuahua cheese, shredded (you can use a cheese of your choice as long as it melts smoothly)

2# goat leg (goat can be subbed for any meat you want. Chicken, pork, etc.)

½ c olive oil

1 ea onion, large dice

6 cloves garlic, smashed

3 ea ghost peppers, split

24 oz Dog days lager (any lager will do)

1 gal  chicken stock


1.         Cook the polenta according to the instructions using the chicken stock and folding in the shredded Chihuahua cheese.

2.         The polenta should be cooked to stiff state and not to creamy or mushy.. Once it is cooked spread it out on a sheet pan and place in refrigerator to cool.


1.         Season goat leg with salt and pepper

2.         Place oil in a solid bottom braising pan allow to get hot.

3.         When oil is hot place goat in and brown on all sides. Remove goat then add onions, garlic and peppers

4.         Toss all these around to salute© but turn down your heat as not to burn them

5.         When the peppers and onions are soft add the beer and chicken stock

6.         Place goat leg back in braising pan and bring to a boil

7.         After it comes to a boil turn to simmer and cover loosely with foil

8.         Cook for 2 hrs. or until goat is fall apart tender

9.         Remove goat allow to cool slightly then when able to handle tear it apart with forks

10.        Place in refrigerator to cool


1.         Take both out of cooler and with a spoon scoop what is equal to 2 Tbls of polenta

2.         Take a pinch or pinch plus of the goat and begin wrapping the polenta around it and form a ball around the goat meat.

3.         Make as many balls as this batch allows and get you fryer ready.

4.         Fry at 350 till golden brown

5.         Serve with sauce of your choice. As I said this recipe is very versatile so have fun with it!
