Backpack Drive
The Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury and Harkins Theatres are teaming up this year for the Fifth Annual Back to School Backpack Drive tomorrow, Aug. 8, at two Harkins Theatres in the Valley. Suns Center Alex Len will make an appearance at the Harkins Scottsdale 101 from 2pm to 3pm. Suns alumnus and radio broadcaster Tim Kempton and Tom Leander will be at the Harkins Chandler Crossroads 12. Fans will receive two free Harkins Theatres Ultimate VIP movie passes for a backpack donation filled with school supplies. This initiative will benefit Playworks, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the school and learning environment, ensuring that Valley children achieve a successful start to the school year. Times, locations and talent appearances for each of the backpack collections are listed below:

AZ Get Outdoors Expo
The Arizona Get Outdoors Expo runs Aug. 7-9 at WestWorld of Scottsdale. The expo will feature hunting and fishing gear, live entertainment, demonstrations and fun for the family in the Tony Nelessen Equestrian Center. There will also be an Ultimate Air dog, mutton busting, catch and release ponds, bow fishing, 3D archery range, demos of the newest outdoor equipment and more.

Slide Across America
Salt River Fields hosts the family-friendly two-day super summer event Slide Across America Friday and Saturday, Aug. 7 and 8 from 4-10pm. The two-day event, boasted the largest inflatable water park in the United States, consists of more than 40 waterslides, 55 total attractions, live entertainment and more. 

Slide Across America at Salt River Fields offers a wide range of activities for the whole family including 42 ft. Drop Kick Water Slide: World's tallest water slide, 40 ft. Hippo Water Slide, Mechanical Bull, Rock Climbing and more. 

General admission tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the gate; children 2 and under are FREE. Family 4 pack is $40 in advance.
