It's the most celebrated team in Arizona State history. The Pac-10 champions came within seconds of taking home the national championship, and in the process, created countless memories and captured out hearts.

We celebrate this legendary team by talking with TWELVE of the most key players from that year. Sit back, relax, and enjoy this unprecedented look back at that magical year. Note the time index below for each player should you feel the need to skip ahead

Keith Poole (3:47): One of the top pass catchers in ASU history, he capped off the regular season with an iconic pose.

J.R. Redmond (15:47): A true freshman in 1996, Redmond's authored one of the marquee moments of the year in the win over UCLA.

Damien Richardson (43:08): The hard-hitting safety was a key difference maker on the defense.

Kyle Murphy (1:00:06): One of the most decorated lineman in program history, Murphy helped pave the way for the powerful Devil offense.

Terry Battle (1:22:04): Stepping in for Michael Martin, Battle ran for over 1,000 yards and scored 20 touchdowns.

Jeremy Staat (1:33:09): Before becoming an all-conference player & serving in the Marines, Staat helped man the defensive line in 1996.

Jeff Paulk (1:42:38): A bruising fullback, "Jurassic" Paulk cleared the way for the run game and became a fan favorite.

Grey Ruegamer (1:56:30): The young stud on the offensive line, Ruegamer locked down the right side of the offensive line.

Juan Roque (2:06:37): A consensus All-American tackle, no one bleeds more maroon and gold than Roque.

Derek Smith (2:25:11): The linebacker was a quiet assassin on the field and gave a dominating presence in the middle.

Derrick Rodgers (2:41:09): The defensive end made his one year at ASU count in the biggest way, becoming a non-stop sack machine.

Jake Plummer (3:03:34): "The Snake" remains arguably the most popular player in franchise history for his heroic efforts on the field.
