Veteran receives free AC unit after going last summer without one
GILBERT, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -
A wonderful gift was given to a military veteran who suffered through an Arizona summer last year without air conditioning.
Juan Siqueiros in his 70s and lives alone in a small condo in Gilbert. He served in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic for four years during Vietnam and was released in 1967 after being injured in a car accident. He is currently recovering from a recent hip injury and has lived without a functional AC unit.
Christian Brothers Plumbing, Air Conditioning, Electrical replaced his unit to provide him with the relief and peace of mind he needs to fully recover from his injuries.
Christian Brothers started in 1976 and wanted to do something for a veteran this year, so they contacted the nonprofit organization called HandsOn Greater Phoenix to see if they knew a veteran who was in need.
The organization helped Christian Brothers contact Siqueiros who made it possible for the company to go out and assess his system and give him a portable unit while they waited for the parts and appointment date to install the actual AC system. That day was Monday. Now, Siqueiros is sitting in a home at a temperature of 78 degrees.
