We're all looking for ways to keep cool during these hot summer months. Nutritionist Jolene Goring shares her recipes to make frozen treats that are not only delicious, but healthy as well.
Use cookie cutters to cut thick slices of melon or apple into shapes of your choice.
Insert a popsicle stick and freeze for at least 2 hours
Enjoy straight from the freezer!
Cut up small pieces of any type of fruit - this is a great way to clean out your fridge!
Tightly pack the fruit into small paper cups (dixie cups work great!)
FIll the rest of the cup with juice of your choice
Insert a stick into the center of each cup
Freeze for at least 2 hours, and then enjoy.
Chocolate Banana Ice Cream Pops
Cut banana in half, insert stick into end, and freeze for at least 2 hours.
Make Chocolate Sauce:
Mix all ingredients together in bowl, do NOT refrigerate (the chocolate will harden)
1/3 cup coconut oil, melted
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup cocoa
Once bananas are frozen, dip into chocolate sauce. It should immediately form a shell around the banana. Dip chocolate covered banana into shredded coconut or crushed nuts if desired. Freeze for another 2 hours, and enjoy straight from the freezer.
Keep it simple - frozen grapes (or berries)
Simply toss grapes into a baggie, freeze overnight and you have a quick, sweet, icy cold snack (and it's healthy!).
