Almost everybody could use a little help to pay those incessant bills and make ends meet, which is why 3TV teamed up with Arizona Central Credit Union to help one lucky person with his or her mortgage.
Arizona Central Credit Union randomly selected the winner of the Home Free With 3TV contest, and Tess Rafols introduced her Monday morning.
Lisa Allen of North Scottsdale, an avid "Good Morning Arizona" viewer, will receive $1,000 per month to help with her mortgage payment for the next 12 months.
She received the amazing news a couple of days ago.
"I was in shock," Allen, a mom of three boys, said. "It was exciting."
But more than that, Allen called the prize a "gift from heaven." She learned she had won the contest on her late mother's birthday.
The Allens have run into some issues with their home recently, so this money could not come at a better time.
"We really need it," she said. "We're a family of five on a small income."
"What a phenomenal way to start the summer -- mortgage free," Todd Pearson, president and CEO of Arizona Central Credit Union, said.
Allen was among thousands who entered the Home Free With 3TV contest.
"What we're about at Arizona Central Credit Union is giving back to the communities that we live and work in," Pearson said.
The first order of business for the Allens is to fix some water damage in the house and repair or replace their broken dryer.
"With five of us, I can't live without a dryer," Allen said with a laugh.
