Fundraiser to help mom who lost daughter, ex-husband in car accident
PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -
A car wash was held to raise money for something unexpected and devastating.
“The oldest two are doing really well and recovering right now, and are back home and doing good,” said Paulina Kingsby, who lost her daughter, Alana and her ex-husband and father to her kids, Donte, in a deadly accident.
“I can't do it without everybody's help, I mean everybody," she said. "Everyone that's donated and everything has helped.”
It was a week ago when 11 people, including six kids, were hurt in a head-on collision. It happened at the intersection of Bethany Home Road and 81st Avenue.
Police said one car crossed into oncoming traffic after the driver suffered a medical emergency. That driver then hit a car head on, which caused a third car to rear-end the second.
Donte Caraway, 26, and his 5-year-old daughter were both severely hurt and later died at the hospital.
Since then, Kinsgby has had support from a lot of people.
“It means a lot, so thank you to everybody," she said.
The family is hoping to have the funeral in the next few days.
