WICKENBURG, Ariz. (AP) -- Authorities say U.S. 93 near Wickenburg is now reopened after the main route from Phoenix to Las Vegas was closed to due to a crash.

The Friday afternoon accident snarled traffic for motorists looking to get an early start on the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Arizona Department of Transportation officials say the crash occurred about 30 miles northwest of Wickenburg and closed U.S. 93 in both directions for more than an hour.

Motorists leaving the Phoenix metro area for Las Vegas had to take Interstate 10 westbound to State Route 95 north, then travel east on Interstate 40 to Kingman and take U.S. 93 northbound to Nevada.
