Weekend Freeway Travel Advisory (May 8-11)Posted: Updated:
Freeway-resurfacing work and other improvements will require closures or lane restrictions in the Phoenix area this weekend (May 8-11). The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers plan ahead, consider alternate routes or adjust travel schedules, and use caution in work zones while the following restrictions are in place:
Northbound Interstate 17 narrowed to one lane between Thomas and Camelback roads from 9 p.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Sunday (May 10) for resurfacing. Expect delays.
DETOUR: Please consider alternate northbound routes, including State Route 51 or Loop 101. The northbound I-17 frontage road will remain open in the area.
Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed between Country Club Drive and Greenfield Road in Mesa from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (May 11) for resurfacing.
DETOUR: Please consider other alternate eastbound routes, including US 60 (Superstition Freeway). Eastbound Loop 202 traffic also can detour along McKellips Road.
Westbound Interstate 10 (toward Phoenix) narrowed to one lane between Queen Creek Road and Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) in the Chandler area from 10 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday (May 9) for installation of overhead message sign and traffic-flow sensors. Westbound I-10 on-ramp at Wild Horse Pass Boulevard closed.
DETOUR: Use detour to westbound on-ramp at Chandler Boulevard. Please allow extra travel time.
Westbound Interstate 10 (toward Phoenix) narrowed to one lane between Wild Horse Pass Boulevard and Chandler Boulevard from 10 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday (May 10) for installation of overhead message sign and traffic-flow sensors. Loop 202 ramps to westbound I-10 closed. Westbound I-10 on-ramp at Chandler Boulevard closed.
DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes, including northbound Loop 101 to westbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway).
Eastbound Interstate 10 (toward Tucson) narrowed to one lane between Wild Horse Pass Boulevard and Riggs Road from 9 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday (May 10) to prepare pavement for future resurfacing. Eastbound I-10 on- and off-ramps at Queen Creek Road closed.
DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider using ramps at Wild Horse Pass Boulevard or Riggs Road.
Westbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) narrowed to two lanes between Princess Drive and 64th Street in north Valley from 4 a.m. Saturday to 5 p.m. Sunday (May 10) for sign and lane-striping work.
Note: Westbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Scottsdale Road closed from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday (May 10).
DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time. Consider using westbound on-ramps at Hayden Road or 56th Street.
