'Buti yoga' offers new twist on workoutPosted: Updated:
Are you stuck in a rut in your workout routine? We found something new to shake things up.
It's called Buti Yoga, and it's taught at "COR," a new boutique fitness studio in Scottsdale that has reinvented what it means to "go to the gym."
COR integrates Yoga, Pilates, TRX, Barre and more with other unique signature fitness classes that will keep you from being bored.
Buti Yoga is one of those classes. This yoga-inspired workout mixes yoga, tribal dancing, and plyometrics to get your whole body into shape.
"Buti" isn't a quirky way to spell gluteus maximus. It's a Marathi word that means "the cure to something hidden or kept secret." The workout's creator, Bizzie Gold, envisions Buti as a way for women to release aspects of their inner self they typically suppress: their sexiness, their self-confidence, and their ability to share those qualities with the world.
Currently, the ladies-only workout is taught by over 400 instructors in 15 states (and several programs are available online.)
This weekend is a great time to try it out, since National Pilates Day is Saturday, May 2.
COR is celebrating National Pilates Day all weekend long. The studio is having the "Zella Takeover" event on Friday from 9 -11 a.m. ( yoga fashion from Nordstrom and free 30-minute class trials.)
On Saturday the studio will offer free Pilates classes, demonstrations, specials, juice from Grabbagreen, Lillie Bells hair boutique, and Zak's chocolate.
For class descriptions or to sign up for a class at COR visit www.bodybycor.com. The first class is free.
