Valley rocks the runway, raises funds for Alice Cooper teen center
MESA, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -
Valley golfers are out on the green today at Alice Cooper's Rock and Roll Golf Classic, and models are at the event to rock the runway and raise money for Alice Cooper's Solid Rock foundation and the Rock Teen Center.
Sheryl Cooper is hosting the Rock the Runway Fashion and Trunk Show Luncheon in conjunction with her husband's golf classic. The event includes a luncheon buffet, music, wine, shopping and the latest rock and roll fashion trends. Admission to the VIP tent is $75, and all proceeds will benefit Alice Cooper's Solid Rock and the Rock Teen Center.
Alice Cooper's Solid Rock foundation aims to support at-risk and struggling teens. The program provides a place for teens to spend time during non-school hours. Teens at the center can participate in art, music and vocational programs.
"We get teenagers into an alternative life instead of the other sketchy things that are going on out there," Sheryl Cooper said. "We give them free dance lessons, guitar, drums, voice, and who knows who the Rock Teen Center is going to launch someday."
The Rock Teen Center is open Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. The center is on the southeast corner of 32nd Street and Thunderbird.
"We're planning for the future generation of Phoenix," Cooper said. "I think rock and roll needs to give back, your fans got you there."
