AVONDALE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

Special needs students at the Agua Fria school district had their big day today as they celebrated their very own prom.

Every year, the district throws a special needs prom for all of their special students. This year, the dance was held at the Estrella Vista Reception Hall. The theme for the celebration was "Life is a Circus," and with the help of the community the dance was everything a prom should be.

All of the girls received free dresses, accessories and shoes from The Cinderella Affair, and the boys got free suit jackets and accessories from Savers. Sam's Club donated money to help make the prom happen, and DJ KOKO and his group South Point BSU provided music all day long. The group went with the students to help them pick out their dresses and suits.

South Point BSU also helped raise $200 for the event to make DVD's and pictures for the students to keep. Events Unlimited donated a photo booth, a popcorn machine and a cotton candy machine. Parents teamed up to make balloon animals, centerpieces and an arch for the students to walk through. Chik-Fil-A donated food for the prom.

More than 100 students went to the Studio Academy of Beauty in Avondale the day before the prom and got free manicures and haircuts so they could look their best for their big day.

The "Best Buddies" club and Agua Fria National Honors Society students all helped contribute to the dance as well.
