Kids in the kitchen: Banana Pops

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - Thursday, moms and dads around the country celebrated Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day. Here at 3TV, we also invited some youngsters along to celebrate the day!

This holiday (which used to be called Take Your Daughters to Work Day) was created in 1993 by Gloria Steinem and the Ms. Foundation for Women with an aim to build young girls' self-esteem and help them envision themselves in a career.

But in 2003, the observance was expanded to include boys and renamed "Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day."

To celebrate the occasion, Lucia Schnitzer of Luci's Healthy Marketplace brought her own daughter to the Good Morning Arizona set Thursday to have some fun in the kitchen.

Young Aviva shared her recipe for Banana Pops.

-Recipe: Aviva's Banana Pops

4 bananas

1 cup Almond Milk

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Mash bananas with a masher or your hands. Add almond milk, cinnamon and vanilla

extract and continue to mix until blended. Add the fruit mixture to each mold or Dixie

cup, leaving about 1/4 inch at the top to allow for expansion. Freeze until partially frozen,

about 1 hour. Insert sticks and freeze again until the pops are fully set, 4 to 6 hours more.
