Blondes vs. Brunettes flag football tackles Alzheimer's disease
PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -
Young Valley women are going head-to-head to tackle Alzheimer's — along with an age old rivalry — in a Blondes vs. Brunettes flag football game this Saturday, April 25.
Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. at Phoenix Community College. Tickets are available at the gate for $10 per person ages 12 and older.
All proceeds from the game will benefit The Alzheimer's Association. Participants want to raise awareness of Alzheimer's disease among a new generation and help raise funds for research, care and support.
The Blondes vs. Brunettes flag football game raised over $23,000 for local programs, services and research in 2014. The initiative has raised $32,322 this year already.
Alzheimer's disease is a growing epidemic and is the sixth leading cause of death in the nation. There are over 120,000 Arizonans living with Alzheimer's, and almost two-thirds of Americans with Alzheimer's disease are women.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and the game starts at 7 p.m. Red heads are free agents in the game, so don't let your hair color hold you back from playing for a good cause.
