Runner with muscular dystrophy finishes Boston Marathon 20 hours after start

BOSTON (CNN, WFXT) -- Defying all the odds, a Venezuelan man with muscular dystrophy took his final steps across the finish line of the Boston Marathon, around 5 a.m. Tuesday morning, 20 hours after starting on Monday.

According to reports, Maickel Melamed, a professor and motivational speaker, was treated at a Boston hospital as a child.

"The rain, the distance, the cold, everything today was overcome because when we are a team, the human creativity, the human magic appears every time," said Melamed.This is the fifth marathon Melamed has completed to raise funds for charity.
