Southern California summer vacation getaways and dealsPosted: Updated:
It's almost time for summer, and for many Valley residents that means time for a vacation. California is a draw for many people looking for some time away, and our travel experts from AAA have put together some getaway ideas for families.
Sometimes the hardest part about booking a vacation is finding a place to stay. Linda Gorman from AAA found some deals along the coast and near some big attractions.
The Sheraton Park at Anaheim Resort is just two blocks away from Disneyland. Rooms in mid-June are about $128 dollars a night.
The Pacific Inn at Seal Beach has high AAA ratings, and the hotel is at walking distance from Seal Beach Pier. The inn offers complimentary breakfast, free parking and a complimentary shuttle van to experience attractions around the area. Rooms run from $155 per night.
Looking for a stay in San Diego? The Wyndham Garden San Diego hotel is a five minute drive from Old Town and a ten minute drive from the San Diego Zoo and beaches. Rooms in mid-June are available from $100 per night.
If you don't want to stay land-locked this summer, check the Baja Mexico Carnival Cruise. The four night cruise departs from Long Beach, Calif. and sails summer adventurers through Catilna Island and Ensenada, Mexico. Inside staterooms start at $379 for the entire cruise — that's less than $100 a day. AAA members are eligible to receive a $50 shipboard credit stateroom.
Summer travelers can stop by Southern California's popular attractions like Disneyland, Legoland and the San Diego Zoo, or take a spin on the San Diego Speed Boat Adventure.
AAA offers discounts to the most popular Southern California attractions. Members can save $5 per person on a two-day Disneyland park hopper ticket. They can save $17.50 to $18.50 on Legoland California and Sea Life hopper tickets and get the second day free. Members can also save $5 on a single-day admission ticket to the San Diego Zoo.
