For decades, Arizona has relied on construction for job growth. That's changing, though, thanks to dozens of tech firms that are expanding and relocating in the Valley.
Phoenix is in the middle of a tech boom that is bringing in big money and young start-up companies from all over the country.
Co-Hoots is a space dedicated to helping new tech businesses get their feet on the ground here in Phoenix. Many tech firms, like Sputnik Moment, are sinking roots in the space. Sputnik Moment is a tech company originating in New York that helps nonprofits. The company moved to the Valley five years ago.
Other tech entrepreneurs like J. Michael Edwards-Toepel, an employee of Minnesota-based company The Nerdery, said that the company opened a location here because Phoenix is a place of growth.
As advice for those seeking jobs in the booming tech industry, Edwards-Toepel said that flexibility and adaptability is key.
"There isn't a normal day to day in a start up," he said. "You have to be a jack of all trades, you have to be willing to do all sorts of different things."
