Mobile dentists offer free care to Valley veterans

Posted: Updated:

Aspen Dental dentists are volunteering their time to provide free dental care for veterans today, April 8 and tomorrow, April 9 in a mobile dental office.

MouthMobile is a 42-foot fully equipped office. It is parked outside of the U.S. VETS Office today from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., providing dental care for veterans that may otherwise not be able to get it. The program is also connecting veterans with free or low-cost resource sin Phoenix that will help them take care of their ongoing oral health needs.

The MouthMobile office will be parked outside of the State Capitol building tomorrow, April 9, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. to serve more veterans, from denture repairs to fillings.

The initiative kicks off the 2015 Healthy Mouth Movement, a program to help veterans find oral health care and overcome barriers like financial obstacles, insurance, fears or accessibility. According to Aspen Dental, these barriers prevented more than 150 million Americans from visiting a dentist last year.

Nearly 2,000 Aspen Dental volunteers gave their time and talents to deliver more than $1 million worth of free dental care to about 3,000 patients.
