Crash demonstration creates education experience before prom, graduation
APACHE JUNCTION, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -
It's prom season in the Valley, and while most teens are focused on what they are going to where for the big night, local law enforcement has something more pressing on their minds.
The Superstition Fire and Medical District held an indoor mock crash demonstration this morning at Apache Junction High School to educate students about the dangers of texting and driving as well as driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
The experience mixed multi-media technology, emergency response and victim actors, and parents of a student driver that died while texting and driving to create the scene.
The school and emergency organizations are using #DeadlyDistractions to raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving and encourage youth to travel responsibly.
