Mesa police are investigating the death of man who was found bleeding outside his apartment.
Police Det. Esteban Flores says police were called Saturday around 6 a.m. about a disturbance.
Neighbor Ron Higdon said he didn't notice anything out of the ordinary when he took his dogs outside before sunrise.
"I really didn't hear anything until all the police cars started showing up," he said.
Responding officers located the victim who appeared to have been involved in an altercation, which police say was likely domestic.
"The police were wrapping two children in blankets, and they took somebody away in an ambulance," neighbor Barbara Vreeland recalled.
The man was taken to a hospital but pronounced dead. Police have not said how he died.
No arrests have been made, but police are calling the man's wife an investigative lead.
Flores did not release the victim's name pending notification of next of kin, but he is described as black and in his late 20s.
