Barrio Queen, named one of Esquire's “Best New Restaurants in America” in 2012, is prepping to open its second location in Gilbert's Heritage Marketplace later this month.

With this expansion, the restaurant is hosting a hiring fair to fill more than 130 front- and back-of-house positions.

The job fair will be held at the following dates and times at the Gilbert location, located at 388 N. Gilbert Road:

  • Monday, April 6 from 2-6 p.m.
  • Tuesday, April 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Wednesday, April 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The restaurant is looking to hire experienced servers, bartenders, barbacks, hosts and line-cooks, along with many other positions. Interested applicants must have a current Maricopa County Food Handlers Card and all servers and bartenders must have a current Arizona Liquor Law Training Certification, or must obtain one upon hiring.

The custom-crafted location designed by LGE Design Group leads diners and passersby into Heritage Marketplace from the north on Gilbert Road, and the 4,500-square foot restaurant is primed to be even more lively that the original. The new location's menu will continue to feature Mexican comfort food-inspired dishes and fan favorites like Chiles en Nogada, Pollo Coco and Cochinita Pibil, along with a host of new appetizers, healthier salads and fresh fish and seafood entrees.
