New business boom creates hundreds of jobs in downtown Gilbert

Hundreds of new jobs are coming to downtown Gilbert soon. About 350 retail and hospitality jobs will emerge in the next three months as many new businesses set up in the area.

Barrio Queen, Snooze, Pomo Pizza and H&M are just a few of the businesses coming to downtown Gilbert in the next 90 days. Saint Xavier University is also expanding their campus to include locations in the area. Lolo's Chicken and Waffles has been in the area for one month, and says that they are excited about their new neighbors.

"It's really exciting," Lolo's Chicken and Waffles general manager Maurice Bell said. "We're excited to have an opportunity to have someone right next door to feed off of, the energy and so on."

The growth in the area will offer job opportunities of all kinds, from food service to higher paying university level positions.

"It took a lot of planning and community involvement for what downtown has become," Gilbert Chamber of Commerce president Kathy Tilque said. "Just 15 years ago there wasn't much happening in Gilbert."

Tilque said that the best way to apply for one of the new jobs in the area is to check out the specific business's website and find out more.
