Sheriff Joe Arpaio set to testify in deposition Wednesday
PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is scheduled to testify tomorrow in a deposition as part of a contempt-of-court case, for the sheriff's acknowledged violations of court orders in a racial profiling case.
The closed-door testimony is being taken in advance of contempt hearings set next month for Arpaio and four aides for the violation of a 2011 order that barred the sheriff's immigration patrols.
Arpaio has acknowledged that he violated court orders in the wake of a ruling that found his office racially profiled Latinos.
And although the court hearing on civil contempt charges is scheduled for next month, there is still a chance a judge could launch a separate criminal case against the sheriff.
