GLENDALE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -  Peoria police have identified a 48-year-old woman who was shot and killed by a Glendale police officer after she pulled a gun on officers Wednesday morning in Peoria.

An undercover Glendale officer tried to take Kaylene Stone, 48, of Glendale, into custody outside of a Circle K near 67th and Peoria avenues in Peoria about 10:30 a.m.

Police say the woman pulled a gun on them and they opened fire. The woman was taken to a hospital, where she died.

Police said the woman had a long criminal history and was wanted on felony drug warrants.

"The female suspect was seated in her vehicle when two officers approached her, she displayed a weapon and she refused to comply with officers' commands to drop the weapon and, fearing for their lives, they fired multiple shots," said Jay Davies with the Peoria Police Department.

Another person, a man, accompanied Stone to the store but was inside when the shooting occurred, police said.

Peoria Police Department is interviewing him along with several other witnesses as the investigation continues,
