Time running out to see butterflies at Desert Botanical Garden

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

This is your last chance and the last season to visit the butterfly exhibit at the Desert Botanical Garden, until the new Butterfly Pavilion opens in the spring of 2017.

The current season ends May 10, but there is a lot to look forward to.

Two years from now, the brand new seasonal butterfly exhibit will be located near the Harriet K. Maxwell Desert Wildflower Trail, and will incorporate a caterpillar nursery and an emergence chamber to view all stages of a butterfly's life.

Placement near the Wildflower Trail will link the exhibit to the story of plant pollinators, and the expanded facility will feature educational exhibits about the butterfly life cycle, pollination and how to create a butterfly friendly garden.

The new “Butterfly Landing” will also provide welcoming activity spaces for children and families.

The new exhibit is thanks in part to the APS Foundation, which recently granted $250,000 to the Desert Botanical Garden for this project.

You can visit the butterfly exhibit now through May 10, 2015, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily
