Glendale hiring for new firefightersPosted: Updated:
The Glendale Fire Department is hiring new firefighters for the second time in two years.
The new recruits are scheduled to begin training at the Glendale Regional Public Safety Training Center in July.
The city was awarded a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grant last year, also known as a SAFER grant, from FEMA for just under $2 million to pay for the new firefighters. The goal of the grant is to allow the fire department to fill the spots that have been vacated through attrition and full time positions that were not satisfied due to budget restraints.
The opportunity to bring in new firefighters to the department will cause rapid change over the next few months creating more opportunities and movement within the department.
Applications for Firefighter Trainee will be accepted until April 10, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. Arizona time.
