Posted: Updated:

Curling is a cold-weather sport that is sweeping the globe, and Tempe's Coyotes Curling Club is celebrating its grand opening to bring the game to the Valley.

Coyotes Curling Club opens today, March 20, and they are hosting a grand opening event from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at their Medtronic Way facility.

The event is open to the public, from beginners to enthusiasts, and will feature a traditional Scottish piper welcome ceremony, a live demonstration, cake and champagne, door prizes, a tour of the facility and a chance for the public to get out on the ice and try some stone-throwing themselves with a little professional instruction, equipment and encouragement.

Stay cool this summer and try your hand at this icy sport. Coyotes Curling Club offers classes, leagues, and more for all age ranges and abilities.
