Surprise track coach arrested for alleged sex abuse and aggravated assault

The Buckeye Police Department has arrested a high school track coach for alleged sex abuse and aggravated assault.

On Monday morning, police arrested 35-year old, Gabriel Jesus Campos for one count each of sexual abuse and aggravated assault. Campos is a track coach at a Willow Canyon High School in Surprise.

Campos is accused of groping and fondling a 16-year-old female student athlete. This allegedly took place at a park in the City of Buckeye during non-school hours.

Campos was taken into custody as he was heading to track practice while the school is closed for spring break. Campos was booked into the Maricopa County 4th Avenue Jail for his initial appearance.

Both Surprise School District officials and Surprise Police were notified of the arrest.
