GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- Fire officials say five families in a Glendale apartment building are seeking shelter elsewhere after a fire broke out in a unit.

Glendale Fire Department spokesman Ron Hart says crews responded after midnight Sunday to the blaze near 67th and Missouri avenues.

Hart says the fire was inside a second-story apartment, which sustained some damage.

He says other units received smoke and water damage.

One firefighter suffered a minor back injury but was treated and released.

Hart says the cause is still under investigation.

The American Red Cross is helping the families get assistance.
