APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. -- Investigators say a first-alarm fire in Apache Junction that displaced seven people was caused by a 7-year-old child playing with a lighter.

Crews from the Superstition and Mesa fire departments were called to the area of Ironwood Drive and Broadway Avenue Friday.

Dave Montgomery with Superstition Fire and Medical said firefighters found a heavily involved single-family home, with flames spreading to an adjacent duplex apartment.

Montgomery said no one was injured, and the American Red Cross was called to assist the occupants.
