Unsettled weekend weather

PHOENIX -- The storm headed toward Arizona changed direction a bit and slowed down. As a result, for the Valley, the weekend probably won’t be as rainy as anticipated just 24 hours ago.

However, we’ll still see scattered showers beginning Saturday afternoon and continuing through Sunday. And in the high country, the rain and snow appears to be a solid forecast for the weekend.

The storm is digging a little farther off the coast of California and, moving south, is digging farther south than originally forecast. What that will probably do is shift the greatest rain and snow possibilities to Monday.

The storm will also be slow to leave, so Tuesday and Wednesday we may see some lingering showers around metro Phoenix.

Temperatures will be headed down. From highs in the upper 70s on Friday, we’ll see highs in the low 60s to finish out the weekend. Those cool temps will hold for the first half of next week.
