SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Baseball excitement is in the air, and stadiums across the Valley are getting ready for spring training.

Surprise Stadium is stepping up to the plate for spring training and preparing to host Major League Baseball’s Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals. The Royals begin playing March 4 for the spring training season.

The practice fields are open to the public free of charge from now until April 1, and gates open at 10 a.m. daily.

Best of Phoenix named Surprise Stadium “the best place to watch a spring training game,” in 2004, and the facility has done its best to live up to its legacy. The stadium hosts little league, high school and college sports events, along with family-fun movie nights and special events.
