TEMPE, Ariz. -- Play like a kid again at the 2015 Tempe PlayDay. It's a free community event for the entire family, taking place this Saturday.

In keeping with its designation as a Playful City USA community for the sixth consecutive year, Tempe will host the day of play for kids of all ages to celebrate play and reap the benefits of being active.

PlayDay is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28 at Kiwanis Park, located at Mill Ave. and All-America Way, Tempe.

Participants of PlayDay will have the opportunity to join a variety of structured and unstructured games and events, including youth sports, kayaking, dance & movement activities and more.

The Tempe Public Library will host a Relaxation Station with coloring activities and refreshments provided by Whole Foods Market in Tempe.

2015 will mark the return of the Diablo Dash at PlayDay. Sponsored by the Tempe Diablos, the Diablo Dash is a free, family-friendly obstacle course that will have you running, crawling, climbing, jumping and laughing all the way to the finish line!

Visitors will also have the chance to enjoy the first year of the Kid Zone Experience. Youngsters are invited to immerse themselves in exciting activity stations that include cooking challenges, speed stacking, a chess tournament and more.

KaBOOM!, a national non-profit organization dedicated to promoting play in children's lives, chose Tempe as a Playful City USA community. KaBOOM! named 214 cities and towns across the country - 12 of which are in Arizona - as 2014 Playful City USA honorees.

Tempe was one of 22 communities given this designation for the sixth consecutive year because of the way it uses play and play spaces to positively impact childhood wellness, public safety and quality of life.
