PHOENIX -- A vacant building owned by Grand Canyon University was damaged by fire early Wednesday morning.

The fire was reported about 6:30 a.m. at 2902 W. Camelback Road, which was a former dentist's office, Phoenix Fire Department Capt. Benjamin Santillan said.

Firefighters forced their way into the building and were met with heavy smoke and heat but extinguished the fire quickly.

No one was inside and no injuries were reported, Santillan said.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation, Santillan said.
