TEMPE, Ariz. -- Four people, three of them teenagers, are in custody in connection with a crime spree that spanned the Phoenix-metro area.

Tempe police made the arrests Wednesday morning at a Jack in the Box at Rural and Guadalupe roads.

Details are still emerging, but it began late Tuesday night when a jogger reported being assaulted by the four suspects. Police believe the suspects got out of the vehicle and tried to rob the jogger.

Investigators tracked the vehicle to the registered owner's home. While they were at the home, police saw the vehicle drive by and started following it.

They stopped the driver, an adult male, on suspicion of driving under the influence. The three teens, one of htem a female, were in the car with him.

When police searched the car, they found a rifle and a pellet gun, as well as a case of beer.

Police are trying to determine if the four suspects were behind a "beer run," another assault and a drive-by shooting in other parts of the Valley.
