PHOENIX (AP) -- Police say a man who forced his way into the Phoenix home of a woman he had an ongoing dispute with was fatally shot.

Sgt. Jonathan Howard says the 31-year-old victim, Marcos Antonio Echavarria, arrived at the residence near 16th and Oak streets Saturday just after 2 a.m. and forced his way inside.

According to Howard, Echavarria had an ongoing domestic dispute with one of the home's three female occupants.

Upon gaining entry, Echavarria was shot by someone associated with the three women.

He suffered one gunshot wound and died from his injuries.

Howard says the suspected shooter left before police officers arrived and police are now trying to locate that person.
