17th annual Car Seat Event
 8 a.m. to Noon. Today/ Saturday February 21.
During the event, parents, grandparents and guardians can have their car seat examined by a certified child passenger safety technician. Representatives from Valley fire, police, NARPRO (Neighborhood Auto Repair Professionals) and child health organizations will be on hand. Car seat check-ups are FREE, but donations are graciously accepted at event and online.
  common mistakes:
Seats installed too loosely. If the seat moves more than an inch in any direction, you need to use your weight to tighten the belt.
Turning forward too soon. Experts suggest kids stay in the rear-facing position until they turn 2 or reach height and weight limits for their seats.
Failing to use a booster. A 2012 Arizona law requires kids 5-8 years old or those shorter than 4 feet, 9 inches to ride in a booster seat.
