Phoenix police SUVs collide while responding to emergency call

PHOENIX -- Three police officers are recovering after two patrol vehicles collided while responding to a call.

It happened early Friday morning at 36th Street and McDowell Road.

The SUVs hit each other when one of the drivers made a U-turn.

According to Sgt. Jonathan Howard, all three officers were taken to Maricopa Medical Center. Their injuries were described as minor, and they have since been released.

Both SUVs, one of them with significant front-end damage, were towed from the scene.
