Weekend freeway travel advisory (Feb. 20-23)Posted: Updated:
VALLEYWIDE -- Before hitting the roadways this weekend (Feb. 20-23), make a note of these weekend freeway construction projects from the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). Restrictions and closures will affect motorists in both the East Valley and West Valley.
*Westbound Interstate 10 narrowed to one lane near Perryville Road, west of Loop 303, from 6 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 22) for pavement improvements. Westbound I-10 off-ramp at Perryville Road closed. DETOUR: Allow extra travel time. Consider using exits ahead of the restriction while Perryville Road exit is closed.
*Westbound Interstate 10 narrowed to one lane near Miller Road in Buckeye from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday (Feb. 21) for lane striping. Eastbound I-10 narrowed to one lane between Watson Road and Verrado Way from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 21) for lane striping. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes.
*Eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) closed between Loop 101 and Alma School Road in Chandler from 9 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday (Feb. 21) for traffic-management project. Southbound Loop 101 ramp to eastbound Loop 202 closed. Eastbound Loop 202 on-ramps at Price and Dobson Roads closed. DETOUR: Consider alternate routes. Eastbound Loop 202 traffic can exit and go north on Price Road, east on Pecos Road and south on Alma School Road to re-enter Loop 202.
*Westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) closed between Kyrene Road and Interstate 10 in Chandler from 9 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday (Feb. 22) for traffic-management project. Southbound Loop 101 ramp to westbound Loop 202 closed. Westbound Loop 202 on-ramps at McClintock Drive and Kyrene Road closed. DETOUR: Consider alternate routes, including northbound Loop 101 to westbound US 60. Westbound Loop 202 traffic exiting at Kyrene Road can go north to westbound Ray Road to reach I-10.
*Northbound State Route 85 ramp to westbound Interstate 10 closed from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 21) for lane striping. DETOUR: Consider using State Route 85 ramp to eastbound I-10, exiting at Miller Road and turning to enter westbound I-10. Westbound I-10 ramp to southbound SR 85 closed from 11:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 22) for lane striping. DETOUR: Consider traveling west on I-10 to Palo Verde Road exit and turning to enter eastbound I-10 to reach ramp to southbound SR 85.
*Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to three lanes between Country Club Drive and Gilbert Road in Mesa from 8 p.m. Friday to 4:30 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 21) and from 6 p.m. Saturday to 4:30 a.m. Sunday (Feb. 22) for widening project. DETOUR: Please use caution in work zone.
*Country Club Drive closed in both directions at Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) in Mesa from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Feb. 23) for bridge work. Loop 202 ramps at Country Club Drive will be open with right turns only. DETOUR: Consider alternate routes, including Alma School Road.
*Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to two lanes in both directions between Greenfield and Thomas Roads in Mesa from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 21) and Sunday (Feb. 22) for widening project. DETOUR: Please use caution in work zone.
*Westbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) closed overnight between Ironwood Drive and Signal Butte Road in the Apache Junction area from 8 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 24) for bridge work. DETOUR: Westbound US 60 traffic will detour north on Ironwood Drive, west on Southern Avenue and south on Signal Butte Road to reach US 60.
