PHOENIX -- A partly cloudy and warm day is on tap for the Valley, with an afternoon high near 82 degrees. That's a full 11 degrees above average for this time of year.
While much of the eastern half of the country deals with bitter cold, Arizona will be treated to more pleasant weather.
Warm and dry weather continues today and tomorrow with a strong ridge of high pressure over the Southwest.
That ridge starts to break down over the weekend as an area of low pressure slides southeast across the Great Basin. That system will bring slight cooling to Arizona, along with breezy conditions Saturday. Look for highs in the mid to upper 70s Saturday and low 70s on Sunday.
Temperatures will be near normal, in the low 70s, to start next week and we could see rain by the middle of the week.
