3OYS: Valley woman 'calls' out Verizon on missing rebate

MESA, Ariz. -- Pam Tidwell works in real estate, so having a phone is crucial to business. And when the new iPhone 6 came out, Pam thought it was the perfect time to upgrade.

"I was really lucky," Tidwell told 3 On Your Side. "I didn't have to stand in line, I didn't have to wait. People were like, 'Oh my God, you got it on the day it came out?' I'm like, 'I don't know, I got lucky.' "

Tidwell said she upgraded to the new iPhone 6 at a Valley Verizon store. Her biggest incentive was an online promotion offering a $200 rebate.

As long as she mailed her old phone into Verizon, Verizon would send her that $200 rebate.

However, several months later, Tidwell still had not yet received her $200. She told 3 On Your Side that it had become a joke asking Verizon for money.

"I just want them to tell me, 'OK! It's going to be in the mail on a certain day,' and I get it a day or two later," Tidwell said.

The 3OYS team got involved and asked Verizon to look into Tidwell's $200 problem.

Verizon discovered the problem and emailed 3OYS saying, "We did not meet our own standards for resolving the issue quickly. We apologize for the inconvenience and have taken the appropriate steps to ensure this does not happen again."

Instead of mailing Tidwell her rebate, Verizon credited her account for $200. Tidwell said she's grateful and couldn't have done it without help from the 3OYS Team.

"I was very surprised," Tidwell said. "I was very grateful. And I feel that the only reason why it got resolved was because of you all."
