PHOENIX (AP) -- An Avondale man is in custody for allegedly stabbing to death a neighbor in an apparent ongoing dispute.

Authorities say 34-year-old Juan Navarro was booked into jail Saturday on suspicion of first-degree premeditated murder.

His bond was set Tuesday at $1 million with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Feb. 24.

Navarro doesn't have a lawyer yet.

Police received a 911 call from a woman who explained her live-in boyfriend had been stabbed in the chest.

According to a court document, the woman said she and her boyfriend had been sitting on the patio when they heard Navarro yelling profanities at them.

She said her boyfriend went over to speak with Navarro, who later told police that he stabbed the other man in the chest.

The victim's name hasn't been released.
