TEMPE, Ariz. -- Some of Tempe's most popular bars are joining forces to celebrate Fat Tuesday and Mardi Gras, by creating what they call the "fattest" party in town.

All day Tuesday, the bars Fat Tuesday and El Hefe are combining their patios to create a giant Mardi Gras bash in downtown Tempe.

From 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., guests can enjoy beads, drinks, gumbo, crawfish and more, all helping to benefit the Navy League of America.

Organizers are expecting big crowds to turn out for the event. "It should be upwards of 400 to 500, but could be upwards of a thousand of we can get a nice solid patio going on," says Sean Frantz of El Hefe.

Visitors can check out five bars, three stages, and 15 hours of fun. Food and drink specials will be offered throughout the day. "Two dollar tacos all day, all night," says Frantz.

There is also live entertainment, with a special performance by the Bad Cactus Brass Band from 5 to 7 p.m., and live DJ entertainment from 7 p.m. until close.

Tickets cost $20. This is event is ages 21 and up.
