TEMPE, Ariz. -- A wrong-way driver caused a multi-vehicle collision on the southbound Loop 101 Pima Freeway near McKellips Road early Saturday morning, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

DPS officials said a vehicle was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of SR 101 at about 4:30 a.m. when the collision occurred.

Several vehicles were involved, but there were only minor injuries reported.

The southbound lanes were closed in the area because of the crash.

Traffic was taken off the freeway at the McKellips off-ramp and allowed to immediately re-enter at the McKellips on-ramp.

The southbound lanes were reopened around 9 a.m.

This was the latest in a string of wrong-way crashes in the Valley over the past several months.
