TEMPE, Ariz. -- Tempe police are searching for a man who reportedly raped a woman as she walking to Arizona Mills Mall Thursday afternoon.

The woman contacted police Friday night and said she was attacked behind some power boxes a few feet from the mall parking lot near Baseline Road and Priest Drive.

Police said the woman was sexually assaulted on the gravel in broad daylight as traffic passed by.

"As you look in the area there, you can see there are areas of concealment with the landscape that's there, but it is a very brazen, bold attack that concerns us very much," said Tempe Police Lt. Noah Johnson.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot-tall black man between 22 and 25 years old, with a medium build and dreadlocks to his shoulders. He was wearing a black T-shirt and tan cargo pants.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Tempe Police Department.
