SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The Surprise Police Department said to expect traffic delays on 163rd Avenue about a half mile north of Grand Avenue after a sinkhole developed Friday afternoon.

Police said a sinkhole approximately 8 feet by 20 feet wide and about 4 feet deep formed in the northbound lanes of 163rd Avenue.

North and southbound traffic was restricted to one lane each at about 3:45 p.m.
